Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Academy Eagles vs. First Academy Eagles

The Trinity Christian Academy Eagles will take on the First Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Trinity Christian Academy has seven straight victories, First Academy has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Trinity Christian Academy will bounce into Monday's game after beating Lake Mary Prep, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Trinity Christian Academy had just enough and edged Lake Mary Prep out 51-49. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly two points.

Meanwhile, First Academy played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 79-40 loss at the hands of Legacy Charter. First Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-19.

Trinity Christian Academy will have to keep a close watch on Rhett Walsh and Logan Stalvey, a pair of players who had a big impact on First Academy's prior game. Walsh went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to five boards and five steals, while Stalvey went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds. That's the most steals Walsh has posted since back in December of 2024. Rayce Teate was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, First Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

First Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season.

Trinity Christian Academy took their win against First Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 92-68. In that match, Trinity Christian Academy amassed a halftime lead of 43-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
