Baseball Recap: Crisp Academy Wildcats vs. Byne Christian Saints
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Covenant Academy, Crisp Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Byne Christian Saints 22-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Jacob Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wilson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI.
In other batting news, Wyatt Youngblood and Reese Reed did most of the damage at the plate: Youngblood went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs, while Reed scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Wilk Stevens was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
The win got Crisp Academy back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crisp Academy will square off against Georgia Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Byne Christian, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Pataula Charter Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
