Preview: Juniata Valley Hornets vs. Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels
Juniata Valley is 10-0 against the Black Knights/Damsels since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Juniata Valley Hornets will look to defend their home court against the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Juniata Valley struggled with assists on Monday (the Warriors had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between Juniata Valley and the Warriors wasn't particularly close, with the Hornets falling 57-43. That's two games in a row now that Juniata Valley has lost by exactly 14 points.
Juniata Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Maddie Hopsicker, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Kassidy Watson who scored 16 points. Hopsicker hasn't dropped below three steals for five straight games.
Meanwhile, Moshannon Valley suffered a rough 52-31 loss at the hands of the Ramblers on Monday. While losing is never fun, Moshannon Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while the Ramblers are ranked 194th).
This is the second loss in a row for Juniata Valley and nudges their season record down to 6-11. As for Moshannon Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-8.
Juniata Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Black Knights/Damsels in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 53-47 win. Will Juniata Valley repeat their success, or do the Black Knights/Damsels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
