The Bennington Badgers will square off against the Pius X Thunderbolts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Bennington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
While Bennington's win against Hastings wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Badgers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 9-8. The win was some much needed relief for the Badgers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Max Swoboda looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brendon Da Luz was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Brett Langan, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Bennington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hastings only posted a batting average of .280.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Pius X nor Lincoln North Star made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Thunderbolts fell just short of the Gators by a score of 4-2. The matchup marked the Thunderbolts' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Henry Suelter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
At the plate, Noah Barnes was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Samuel Aschwege was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Pius X's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Bennington, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Bennington beat Pius X 10-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Do the Badgers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbolts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
