Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Monroe Central

Monroe Central waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Randolph Southern Rebels as they made off with a 12-3 victory. The Golden Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.

Caleb Luedike made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Monroe Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-3 (and 2-11 when he doesn't).

Monroe Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

Monroe Central's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Randolph Southern, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe Central will welcome Winchester Community at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Randolph Southern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
