Basketball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Clear Creek Golddiggers

Two dominant guards in Caleb Christiansen and Zephyrus Schuessler are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lyons Lions will head out to take on the Clear Creek Golddiggers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lyons knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully Clear Creek likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, everything went Lyons' way against Union Colony Prep as Lyons made off with an 81-59 win. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Clear Creek played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by SkyView Academy 82-22. While losing is never fun, the Golddiggers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Hawks are ranked 43rd).

Clear Creek has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Lyons, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Lyons couldn't quite finish off Clear Creek in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 74-72. Thankfully for Lyons, Collin Hendrickson (who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 17 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
