Football Game Preview: East Newton Patriots vs. Aurora Houn Dawgs

East Newton hasn't had much luck against Aurora recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Houn Dawgs at 7:00 p.m. East Newton has given up an average of 38.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, East Newton was beaten by Monett 58-20. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Cubs are ranked 22nd).

Even if they lost, East Newton's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Aidan Wolfe was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. East Newton got some further help from Lachlan Letterman: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, Aurora was not quite McDonald County's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell 21-14 to the Mustangs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 13, 2017, but that streak is no more.

Aurora's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for East Newton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
