Preview: Harvard-Westlake Wolverines vs. Redondo Union Sea Hawks

After two games on the road, Harvard-Westlake is heading back home. They will take on the Redondo Union Sea Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

With a playoff game on the line, Harvard-Westlake rose to the challenge on Saturday. They snuck past the Wildcats with a 63-57 victory. The victory was all the more spectacular given Harvard-Westlake's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Windward is ranked 29th).

Harvard-Westlake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deana Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Thompson hasn't dropped below 19 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jamie Yue, who scored 11 points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Redondo Union entered their tilt with Portola with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Redondo Union enjoyed a cozy 66-50 victory over Portola on Saturday.

Harvard-Westlake's victory bumped their record up to 13-17. As for Redondo Union, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Harvard-Westlake, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-38 loss to Redondo Union in their previous matchup back in December of 2023.
