Baseball Game Preview: Kennedy Catholic Lancers vs. Puyallup Vikings

The Kennedy Catholic Lancers will venture away from home to face off against the Puyallup Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Kennedy Catholic beat West Valley 8-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

The team relied heavily on Liam Rhoads, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Ka'Ipo Matsushima, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Puyallup was not the first on the board last Tuesday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against Mount Vernon as Puyallup made off with a 10-4 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Mason Pike made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Puyallup got a big performance out of DJ Ringenbach, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Keagan Soliza was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Kennedy Catholic's record is now 2-0. As for Puyallup, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Kennedy Catholic came up short against Puyallup when the teams last played back in May of 2023, falling 5-0. Can Kennedy Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
