Softball Recap: Burke County Takes a Loss

Portal hit Burke County with a five-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears lost 10-2 to the Panthers. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Burke County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madeleigh James, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Burke County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Portal, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Burke County will face off against Evans at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Portal, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Bryan County at 6:00 p.m.
