Basketball Recap: San Marcos Extends Winning Streak to Seven

San Marcos entered their tilt with Escondido on Tuesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Escondido Cougars 73-32. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 25 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why Escondido lost, don't look at Anaya McGlory. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points and six boards. That was a full 43.8% of Escondido's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Diaz, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 14 points.

San Marcos pushed their record up to 16-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Escondido, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

San Marcos will take on San Pasqual at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
