Softball Game Preview: Pius X Thunderbolts vs. Wayne Blue Devils

The Pius X Thunderbolts will square off against the Wayne Blue Devils on Tuesday. Pius X is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Pius X took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Lincoln Northeast as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The Thunderbolts haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Adee Duggan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Macy Charf and Erica Horne did most of the damage at the plate: Charf went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Horne went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Kendal Heimes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

Pius X kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Wayne hadn't beaten Guardian Angels Central Catholic on the road since October 2, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Bluejays 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted against the Bluejays since October 2, 2021.

Wayne's win bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Pius X, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14.
