Baseball Game Recap: Franklin Central Flashes vs. Hamilton Southeastern Royals

Franklin Central had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 10-16 to make it four. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-0 to the Hamilton Southeastern Royals, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 on Wednesday.

Franklin Central got a good showing from Colten Russell, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest earned runs Russell has allowed since back in March.

As for Hamilton Southeastern, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

On Hamilton Southeastern's side, Dylan Cope tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Cope has posted over his last four games.

On the hitting side, Jackson Bixler was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kian Kelly, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Franklin Central and Hamilton Southeastern are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Flashes will take on Mooresville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they will face off against Carmel at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
