Softball Recap: Papillion-Lavista's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Papillion-LaVista dropped down to 24-9 on Saturday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Millard West Wildcats, falling 7-1. The Monarchs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 14-3.

Papillion-LaVista saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addalynne Bergren, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

As for Millard West, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 23-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

On Millard West's side, Addison Burdorf made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Burdorf has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allie Bergman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Lily Van Boskirk, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As of now, neither Papillion-LaVista nor Millard West have any future games scheduled.
