Basketball Recap: Mercy Comes Up Short

Mercy and Scotts Valley squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Mercy had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 68-14 loss at the hands of the Scotts Valley Falcons. The Bears just can't catch a break and have now endured eight losses in a row.

It was another big night for Samantha Rebbert, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 steals for Scotts Valley. Rebbert is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Hanna Shehorn was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Mercy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Scotts Valley, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-2.

Mercy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Scotts Valley, they are taking a road trip to challenge Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Notre Dame: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Scotts Valley has snatched up eight consecutive wins on the road.
