Beatrice faced Crete in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Orangemen came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 10-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Orangemen, who have now won 13 matchups in a row.

Layla Boyko spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brooke Gleason was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Tatum Tempelmeyer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Beatrice's win bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Crete, the defeat snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 19-3 record.

Beatrice wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-0 victory against Plattsmouth on the 27th. As for Crete, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-5 win against Duchesne/Roncalli on the 27th.
