Barnesville dropped down to 4-14 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the East Grand Forks Green Wave, falling 13-2. The Trojans were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but the Green Wave's pitchers proved too tough.
As for East Grand Forks, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games.
For East Grand Forks' part, Jakob Stassen and Carter Magnell made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Stassen pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Magnell didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Stassen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Stassen went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Magnell went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mason Frize was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Cole Schmiedeberg also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
