Basketball Recap: Otay Ranch Picks Up 13th Straight Win at Home

It's playoff time, and Otay Ranch had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the West Hills Wolf Pack on Saturday, sneaking past 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since December 7, 2024.

Otay Ranch found their leader in freshman Elisa Cruz, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 15 points in addition to five steals and three blocks. That's the most steals Cruz has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anaya Carter, who scored seven points along with seven boards and three steals.

Otay Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, West Hills still got an impressive performance from Jordan Dillon, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Dillon has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Otay Ranch's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.9 points over those games. As for West Hills, their loss ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 21-7.

Coming up, Otay Ranch will venture away from home to square off against Imperial at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Imperial will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Otay Ranch surely won't give up without a fight. West Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
