Basketball Recap: Palm Springs Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Palm Springs entered their tilt with Desert Hot Springs on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They managed a 42-36 victory over the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Palm Springs was led to victory by Shayla Bates and Eiresslee Wells. Bates dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Wells dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bates has scored at least a third of Palm Springs' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aja Walker, who posted three points and three steals.

Palm Springs' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.8 points per game. As for Desert Hot Springs, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Palm Springs will take on Brawley in a tournament on Thursday. Desert Hot Springs and Liberty will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
