Football Game Preview: Oxon Hill Clippers vs. Parkdale Panthers + How To Watch

The Oxon Hill Clippers will face off against the Parkdale Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oxon Hill will be strutting in after a win while Parkdale will be coming in after a defeat.

Oxon Hill lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bowie, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Clippers really took it to the Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-6 victory. With the Clippers ahead 21-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Oxon Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amir Elder led the charge by throwing for 317 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 34 yards. Those 317 passing yards gave Elder a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Cody McMickens, who rushed for 117 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Oxon Hill was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Parkdale's offense. They were outmatched by Flowers and fell 50-0. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Parkdale's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Oxon Hill, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Oxon Hill against Parkdale in their previous meeting back in September of 2019, as the squad secured a 44-0 victory. Will the Clippers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
