The Lakeside Vikings will head out to take on the Woodward Academy War Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Lakeside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Chamblee hit Lakeside with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 10-5 to the Bulldogs.
Porter Bemiss was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Willow Wilson was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Woodward Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Arabia Mountain on Thursday as they made off with a 14-2 win. The War Eagles haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Cymone Woodfaulk was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Woodward Academy got a massive performance out of Kaitlyn Weeks, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Weeks has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Claire Cavanaugh, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Woodward Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Lakeside's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11. As for Woodward Academy, their record is now 7-10.
Everything went Lakeside's way against Woodward Academy in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as Lakeside made off with a 9-0 win. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the War Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
