Basketball Recap: Sophia Schmader Key Part of a Team Effort in Rovers Win

The third road game was the charm for Brockway, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 47-36 win over the Johnsonburg Rams on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 42-26 back in December of 2024.

Brockway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Schmader, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Schmader has been hot recently, having also posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. Sophia Morrison was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Brockway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-7. As for Johnsonburg, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brockway will square off against Kane at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Johnsonburg, they will challenge Otto-Eldred at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
