Softball Recap: Waverly Takes a Loss

If Waverly was riding high fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Nebraska City on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elkhorn Antlers on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Tenley Peery was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Waverly's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Elkhorn, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3.

Coming up, Waverly will challenge Skutt Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elkhorn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Douglas County West on Thursday. The Antlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcon have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
