Preview: Round Valley Mustangs vs. Laytonville Warriors
Round Valley and Laytonville are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Round Valley Mustangs will be playing at home against the Laytonville Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Round Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
Round Valley posted their biggest victory since December 6, 2023 on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 64-15 win over Potter Valley. The win made it back-to-back wins for Round Valley.
Round Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayla Hinman, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Claudia Boggs, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Laytonville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Point Arena, falling 56-14. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Laytonville has scored all season.
Round Valley's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Laytonville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Round Valley beat Laytonville 32-24 in their previous matchup on January 9th. Will Round Valley repeat their success, or does Laytonville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
