Mt. Carmel's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Weede, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Randi Arcala was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Aranalde is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Awen Carrillo, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Mt. Carmel's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-12. As for Mater Dei Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Escondido at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Escondido is ranked 865th, while Mt. Carmel is ranked 840th). As for Mater Dei Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Academy of Our Lady of Peace at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy of Our Lady of Peace is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
