Basketball Recap: Northampton Takes a Loss

Northampton lost against Liberty back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Northampton Konkrete Kids came up short against the Liberty Hurricanes, falling 52-32. While losing is never fun, the Konkrete Kids can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Hurricanes are ranked 93rd).

Liberty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Kopetskie led the charge by going 7 of 15 en route to 20 points and seven boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Kopetskie has scored at least a third of Liberty's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tula Sobrinski, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 15 points.

Northampton's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-6. As for Liberty, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

When Northampton and Liberty next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Northampton will square off against Nazareth Area and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Liberty will try to stop Easton Area's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
