Basketball Recap: Highland Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Highland had won 11 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 3-0 to make it 12. They enjoyed a cozy 66-48 win over the East Leopards. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Leopards, too.

Highland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Oberholtzer out in front who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Those four steals gave Oberholtzer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Lee, who earned 11 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Highland was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East only posted six.

As for East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points over those games.

When it comes to explaining why East lost, don't look at Jett Rimando. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field en route to 25 points along with seven boards and three steals. Rimando has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Quinn McCallum, who scored seven points.

Highland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-48 loss against American Fork on the 4th. As for East, they will welcome Juan Diego Catholic at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
