Baseball Recap: Citizens Christian Academy Triumphs

Citizens Christian Academy owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against the Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles by a score of 5-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

The result came thanks to Jonathan Rutland's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gray McLean, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Citizens Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3-1 otherwise. Thomas Gentry was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Citizens Christian Academy now has a winning record of 4-3-1. As for Vidalia Heritage Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Citizens Christian Academy beat Vidalia Heritage Academy by a score of 1-0 later that day.
