Basketball Game Preview: Eagle Rock Eagles vs. George Washington Prep Generals

Having just played yesterday, the Eagle Rock Eagles will jump right back in to play the George Washington Prep Generals at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Eagle Rock saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lawndale. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, George Washington Prep's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a blow against Christian, falling 79-52.

Eagle Rock will need focus on slowing down Jay'La Ray, one of several George Washington Prep players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Ray is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Dereon Conant, who posted 22 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, George Washington Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

George Washington Prep's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Eagle Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
