Soccer Recap: St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Comes Up Short

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They came up short against the St. Genevieve Valiants, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 788th, while the Valiants are ranked 119th).

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16-1. As for St. Genevieve, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy will face off against La Salle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Salle's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
