Softball Game Preview: Mountain Range Mustangs vs. Loveland Red Wolves

Mountain Range is 1-9 against Loveland since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Red Wolves at 10:00 a.m. Mountain Range is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Mountain Range came out on top against Pomona on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-6 victory.

MacKenzie King was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Shawn Lee was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mountain Range kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Loveland was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to Greeley West.

Mountain Range is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Loveland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
