Baseball Game Preview: Fenwick Friars vs. IC Catholic Prep Knights

Fenwick is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will square off against the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 4:30 p.m. IC Catholic Prep took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Fenwick, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, Fenwick earned a 6-1 win over Whitney Young.

Gabriel Montes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Fenwick's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Connor Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Davis hit this season. Bryan Tunison was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sunday just wasn't the day for IC Catholic Prep's offense. They came up short against Chicago Mt. Carmel on Sunday, falling 9-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

Fenwick's win bumped their record up to 4-6-1. As for IC Catholic Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Everything went Fenwick's way against IC Catholic Prep when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Fenwick made off with an 11-0 victory. Will the Friars repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
