Basketball Game Preview: Santa Maria Saints vs. Atascadero Greyhounds

The Santa Maria Saints will venture away from home to challenge the Atascadero Greyhounds at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Maria has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with seven straight defeats, while Atascadero will come in with eight straight victories.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-23, which was the final score in Santa Maria's tilt against Nipomo on Friday.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Aaliyah Juarez, who posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Jacqueline Paredes was another key player, putting up 13 boards and seven steals.

Meanwhile, Atascadero earned a 42-29 win over Pioneer Valley on Friday.

Santa Maria's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Atascadero, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Santa Maria was taken down by Atascadero 58-24 in their previous matchup last Friday. Can Santa Maria avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
