Basketball Recap: Maclay Marauders vs. Santa Fe Catholic Hawks
Maclay was the 50-35 winner over Santa Fe Catholic when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Maclay Marauders took a blow against the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks on Saturday, falling 59-31. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Hawks are ranked 60th).

Several Marauders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Coffin, who posted nine points and three steals. Coffin has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Beshears, who scored eight points and three steals.
It was another big night for Tate Darner, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds for Santa Fe Catholic. Those 14 boards gave Darner a new career-high. Toby Lane was another key player, putting up eight points along with five assists and three steals.
Maclay has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Santa Fe Catholic, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.
