Softball Preview: Fullington Academy Trojans vs. Crisp Academy Wildcats
Fullington Academy is 1-9 against Crisp Academy since August of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Trojans will head out to face off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m.
Fullington Academy fell victim to Southwest Georgia Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to the Warriors.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Thursday. Crisp Academy blew past Westwood 10-1. The result was nothing new for Crisp Academy, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Laura Evans made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024.
In other batting news, Ansley Simpson was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Mary Margaret Gibbs also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
