Baseball Game Preview: Claxton Tigers vs. Jenkins County War Eagles

For the second straight game, Claxton will face off against Jenkins County. The Tigers will host the War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Claxton is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Claxton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Jenkins County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers fell just short of the War Eagles by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since February 12, 2025.

For Jenkins County's part, Ryley James was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. James also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jenkins County is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-11 otherwise. James was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Justin Wright, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Griffith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Jenkins County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Claxton now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Jenkins County, with the win, they broke their 12-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-12.
