Softball Recap: Gallatin Comes Up Short

Gallatin extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-4. They fell 8-4 to the Albany Warriors. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

As for Albany, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 15-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

For Albany's part, the team relied heavily on Jayden Hillyard, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three runs. That home run was Hillyard's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Marley Hansel, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double.

Looking ahead, Gallatin will venture away from home to face off against Lawson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Albany, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-4 win against Schuyler County on the 27th.
