Softball Recap: Golden Beats Berthoud for Their Ninth Straight Win

Golden waltzed into their contest on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Berthoud Spartans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Demons also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2021.

Adrianna Riddle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Reagan Smith was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. Daely Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Golden hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive matchups.

Golden's win bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Berthoud, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Golden will be taking part in a tournament against Windsor at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Demons 3.9, the Wizards 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Berthoud, they will take on Green Mountain in a tournament on Saturday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
