Preview: Santiago Cavaliers vs. Bolsa Grande Matadors
Santiago has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Bolsa Grande Matadors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Saturday, Santiago came up short against Pacifica and fell 47-34. While losing is never fun, Santiago can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 838th, while Pacifica is ranked 284th).
Meanwhile, Bolsa Grande's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 17th straight loss. They took a serious blow against Loara, falling 54-17. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bolsa Grande in their matchups with Loara: they've now lost eight in a row.
Santiago's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Bolsa Grande, they bumped their record down to 1-21 with that loss, which was their 17th straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Santiago against Bolsa Grande when the teams last played two weeks ago as the team secured a 66-17 victory. With Santiago ahead 49-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
