Basketball Game Preview: South Spartans vs. El Segundo Eagles

The South Spartans will head out to face off against the El Segundo Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

South is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Cerritos just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 57-46 to the Dons. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Spartans came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Dons are ranked 405th).

Meanwhile, El Segundo lost to Mira Costa on the road by a 63-49 margin on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

South's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for El Segundo, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.

South took their win against El Segundo in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 60-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for South since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
