Football Recap: Cibola Falls Short Against Ranked Cleveland + How To Watch

Cibola faced Cleveland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars lost 27-6 to the Storm. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Hayes Baum threw for 76 yards while completing 85.7% of his passes. Jeremiah Gutierrez was his top target, picking up 54 receiving yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cleveland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Hatch, who threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. Hatch is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Maldonado, who picked up 154 receiving yards and one TD.

This is the second loss in a row for Cibola and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Cleveland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cibola will take on Farmington at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cleveland, they will face off against Piedra Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Storm will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.29 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
