Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Byng's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tecumseh, Byng was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Shawnee Wolves. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Byng is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Shawnee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8-1.

Looking ahead, Byng will challenge Tupelo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shawnee, they will venture away from home to take on Bethel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
