Hannah Diaz leads Chavez to victory over Kennedy

The Chavez Titans had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They snuck past Kennedy with a 48-44 win. That's another feather in the cap for Chavez, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Hannah Diaz was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Lopez, who scored six points.

Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kayleen Maes, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Valeria Payan-Medina was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.

Chavez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Kennedy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-18.

Chavez will be playing in front of their home fans against Farmersville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Farmersville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Chavez surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kennedy, they will head out on the road to face off against Foothill at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennedy is coming into the matchup with six straight defeats on the road, meaning Foothill will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
