Hanover Park extended their winning streak to seven on Friday, bumping them up to 7-0. They breezed past the Jefferson Township Falcons to the tune of 53-13. Considering the Hornets have won four games by more than 34 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Hanover Park's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jack Kovacs, who rushed for 76 yards and two scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 116 yards and one TD. What's more, Kovacs racked up 177.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Mark Perillo was another key back, rushing for 126 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hanover Park was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 368 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 151 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.

Hanover Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Darien Iannacone and Ryan Medich.

As for Jefferson Township, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Hanover Park is ranked 73rd).

Jefferson Township's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chris Connolly, who gained 103 total yards, and Braedan Cummings, who rushed for 16 yards and one score.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hanover Park will square off against West Essex at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jefferson Township, they will challenge Dover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.57 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
