Baseball Recap: Southwest DeKalb Comes Up Short

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Southwest DeKalb was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They fell 5-2 to the North Springs Spartans. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 10-7.

Kameron Scott spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Desmond McCord made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

Southwest DeKalb's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for North Springs, with the victory, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-14.

The future could be bright for both Southwest DeKalb and North Springs: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Southwest DeKalb will look to extend Clarkston's seven-game losing streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, North Springs will try to hand Lithonia their eighth-straight defeat when the two meet at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
