It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Johansen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Central Valley Hawks 42-39. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Hawks back in January, they had to take a 51-44 loss.

Despite the defeat, Central Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lily Madrigal dropped a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave Madrigal a new career-high. Marion Dennison was another key player, putting up nine points and eight rebounds.

Johansen's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 7-19. As for Central Valley, they dropped their record down to 7-19 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Johansen has already played their next game, a 49-29 defeat against Livingston on the 11th. As for Central Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-22 loss against Lathrop on the 11th.
