Baseball Game Preview: Jordan Red Jackets vs. Columbus Blue Devils

Jordan hasn't had much luck against Columbus recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Red Jackets will look to defend their home field against the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Jordan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Jordan had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Mary Persons put an end to it on Wednesday. The Red Jackets fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1.

Shaw typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Columbus proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 5-1. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

Michael Nottleman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Axel Serra, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Jamari Blackmon was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one double.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Jordan, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jordan has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Columbus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
