Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granite Hills). Their defense stepped up to hand the Silverado Hawks a 16-0 shutout on Friday. Give the Cougars' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Their offense was hitting Silverado from everywhere, as nine different players booted in a goal. Miranda Macias led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for four goals all by herself.

Granite Hills' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven matches. As for Silverado, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, Granite Hills and Silverado will both be playing Adelanto the next time they take the pitch. Granite Hills will head out to face Adelanto at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Silverado will host them at 4:30 p.m. on January 31st.
