Basketball Recap: Alchesay Sets Scoring Season-High Against Miami

Alchesay had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-3 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 69-49 margin over the Miami Vandals. The Falcons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Alyssa Jim was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Hannah Quintero, who shot 64% from the field to rack up 14 points and three steals.

Alchesay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

As for Miami, they now have a losing record of 1-2. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

When it comes to explaining why Miami lost, don't look at Tamia Pietila. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 29 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 59.2% of the Vandals' points, marking the third time in a row Pietila has earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Chacon, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Alchesay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-41 victory against Many Farms on the 11th. As for Miami, they will be taking part in a tournament against Duncan at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
