Preview: Loyalton Grizzlies vs. Plumas Charter Warriors
The Loyalton Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Plumas Charter Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Loyalton will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Loyalton put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Virginia City, posting a 60-20 win at home. The victory was all the more spectacular given Loyalton's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 726th in California, while Virginia City is ranked 89th in Nevada).
Loyalton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Holland out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Holland has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexxis Gunier, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Plumas Charter was beaten by Portola 73-30 on Friday. Plumas Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-17.
Loyalton now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Plumas Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
